Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes.
Once you have decided to pursue therapy, it is normal to experience some apprehension. Please know that you are not alone in these feelings. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I am committed to listening attentively, asking relevant questions, and providing insights to support you. Together, we will work on developing new coping strategies, addressing any challenges that arise, and monitoring your progress toward your goals. During our initial session, you will have the opportunity to share your background, discuss your thoughts, and outline your objectives for treatment. We will also establish a plan, including the frequency of sessions and specific goals. Consistent attendance and engagement are important for achieving meaningful progress.

The answers may surprise you – there’s not a whole lot of difference between their licenses and practices. All licenses can practice therapy independently and are all licenses awarded by the state after an individual meets strict requirements. The main difference can be found in the educational approach received during their degree programs.
Counselors are trained with an emphasis on individuals and couples.
Social workers are trained at the individual, family, group, and community levels.
Marriage and family therapists are trained, unsurprisingly, with an emphasis on marriage and family.
Don’t overthink this, though! All the therapists are trained out of the same books, with the same theories, applying the same principles to the therapy relationship. The credentials behind their name should reassure you that they’re qualified and not cause confusion when selecting the best therapist.
I provide in-person therapy sessions in Denton, TX, as well as teletherapy services for clients across Texas. I welcome individuals seeking support for a range of challenges and concerns. Drawing from my personal experiences, I offer specialized support in areas such as trauma, adult children of alcoholics and addicts, anxiety, personality disorders, and other related issues. If you are experiencing difficulties with codependency, people-pleasing, boundary-setting, or other related concerns, I am here to assist you.
Each client is unique, with individual needs that may influence the length and nature of their therapy. Remember, this process is centered around you, and your input is valued throughout. The primary objective is to support your well-being and assist you in achieving a fulfilling life aligned with your vision. As you progress toward your therapeutic goals, some clients feel ready to move forward, while others may choose to maintain periodic check-ins with their therapist. This can be an effective way to stay balanced and maintain progress. Additionally, therapy can be beneficial beyond challenging times, serving as an opportunity to reinforce new skills, identify potential blind spots, and pursue ongoing personal growth.
For those of the Christian faith, you might wonder if engaging with the Bible and prayer alone can address your concerns. While spiritual practices are vital, it’s also helpful to recognize that God often works through various people and resources to support us during difficult times. Maintaining a connection with Scripture is important, but when it comes to mental health, seeking support from a trained therapist can provide valuable guidance and assistance in navigating complex challenges.
Please note that, as I reserve dedicated time for appointments, I kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. I am committed to respecting your time, and I would greatly appreciate your consideration in return. Thank you for your cooperation.
